The following is a description of the equipment rental, sales and service categories CERF Limited Partnership currently supplies to our diverse base of customers:
Air Compressors and Accessories
Whether a customer is chipping out an old concrete floor or installing a new hardwood floor, there are different air compressors and accessories for each project. The fleet of air compressors range in size from small 6 CFM electric compressors for finishing carpentry work, 185 CFM compressors for chipping out concrete to large diesel powered portable 825 CFM air compressors for refractory and sandblasting projects. Accessories include items such as hoses, chippers, hammers, framing nailers, breakers, impact wrenches, blow pipes and air movers.
4-Way uses Emglo for our small line of compressors and Doosan for our large portable compressors. These lines have proven to be the contractor’s choice for reliability and ingenuity in product features and design.
Compaction Equipment
Getting the right compaction is a critical part for any foundation work. Using the right machine is the key to getting the project completed properly. The Wacker Neuson equipment line of granular soil compactors range in size from a small 200 pound plate tamper for small jobs like sidewalks, paving stones, and driveways to large 1500 pound plate tampers for warehouses and industrial sites. For confined areas of cohesive, semi-cohesive or mixed soils, vibratory rammers are used as well as remote controlled double drum sheepsfoot for ditches or trenches. Walk behind rollers are best for use on sand and gravel bases as well as asphalt applications. For large compaction projects, the Doosan/Ingersoll Rand ride-on padfoot rollers work well in cohesive soils and offer excellent gradeability and traction when working on loose soils with thick lifts.
Concrete Equipment
Working with concrete has become even more challenging as advances to design and quality of concrete change. Although the same equipment has been used for decades there is new technology being used to attain a faster and better quality product. We carry the traditional equipment such as power trowels, bull floats, vibrators and mixers as well as the new technology of power screeds. These machines are designed as ‘one person’ operation and operate at twice the speed of manual screeding reducing labour costs and increasing productivity. Ground Heaters are used to cure concrete in cold weather climates allowing contractors to work through the winter months.
Electric Tools and Equipment
4-Way offers a large selection of electric tools and equipment for the residential and commercial contractor and homeowner. These include Hilti and Wacker Neuson hammer drills, dustless grinders, concrete coring rigs and vacuums, Sureflame fans and extension cords. For the sandblasting industry, ventilation and containment of hazardous materials is a key safety issue on industrial jobsites. Specialty equipment such as explosion proof fans and dust socks are used to fulfill this need while maintaining a cleaner environment for people to work.
Power Equipment and Accessories
New construction often occurs in remote areas where power in not available. 4-Way carries gas Honda generators starting at 2500 to 6500 watts and diesel Wacker and Multiquip generators from 7 to 130 kilowatt power. There are also power panels available for distributing power on site. Generators are used by a vast array of companies including TV/Radio for remote filming or airing, Government for election campaigns, event planners for weddings, sporting events and award ceremonies for backup emergency power and residential and commercial builders for running tools and equipment in remote areas. New technologies in power generation have made loud diesel generator into a quiet power solutions for a variety of markets.
Heaters and Accessories
With over 180 days in a year where the temperature is less than -5 Degree Celsius, building and coating contractors require external sources of heat to complete their projects. Each phase of construction requires a different type of heating equipment for an assortment of situations including ground thawing, concrete curing, or workspace heating. These include Enerco radiant and infra-red heaters, Ground Heaters hydronic heaters, ICE’s and Ground Heater’s heavy-duty indirect-fired heaters and Sureflame direct-fired heaters. New innovations in tarp technology have helped contractors keep insulate their projects with products like the Wacker Neuson’s Red Wave R3 blanket and the Midwest R6 Reflective blanket.
Lighting Equipment
In the winter months, the Edmonton area only receives 8 hours of day light. For those businesses working 24 hour shifts in a fabrication yard or transportation companies unloading freight in remote areas, lighting is critical component of their operation. For temporary lighting solutions, 4-Way carries Doosan and Multiquip 6, 8 and 20 kilowatt light towers. These towers can light up an entire football field and are equipped with a generator for running other equipment if needed. Light stands are readily used for inside and outside commercial, industrial and residential structures as well as nightly events such as fundraisers, weddings, and sporting events.

Landscape, commercial, industrial and residential contractors are in constant need of moving materials from one place to another. Municipal or provincial utility companies also require material handling equipment for installation and repairs of water and sewer utilities. Even home owners are looking for easier ways to renovate their yards, acreages or lake lots. This equipment is used year round for a variety of tasks.
Pumping Equipment
Pumping equipment is used by commercial, residential and emergency relief contractors who are looking for fast and effective fluid removal. Wacker and Magnum centrifugal, submersible and trash gas powered pumps are designed to handle liquids in construction, waste treatment, industry and civil engineering applications. They can be used for flood drainage, sewage pumping, transferring liquids containing sand, mud or solids in suspension, dewatering, irrigation and spraying. Little Giant electric submersible pumps are also used for light nuisance dewatering and ideal for the small residential contractor, plumber or homeowner. Fire hose and accessories are used for clearing and cleaning debris in commercial and emergency situations.
Saws
Saws have been part of the building trade for centuries. Whether it is a tiling contractor using a wet saw for cutting floor tiles or a contractor using a quickie saw to cut rebar, there is saw for almost any application. We carry all the top lines including Husqvarna quickie saws, Dewalt sliding compound, Hilti and Milwaukee sawz-all or reciprocating saws, Husqvarna tiles saws and floor saws, and Stihl chainsaws. Washers come in either belt or direct drive, hot or cold, gas or electric ranging in size from 4 to 13 hp engines with 1000 psi to 4000 psi. Water trailers with a 500 gallon water tank and pump are used in several applications including remediation, soil compaction and dust suppression. The tanks can be hooked up to a pressure washer for a portable washing systems used in the oilpatch, industrial sites and remote construction projects.
Fuel Cells
Improving efficiency and reducing labour costs is a key concern on most every jobsite or workplace. Sourcing equipment that can meet these needs is a main driver for 4-Way when making equipment buying decisions. A new innovation in the last few years, has been fuel transcubes or cells. These fuel cells are a double walled DOT approved vessel for transporting and containing fuel on jobsites. The key benefits include longer run times for existing equipment on site by plumbing them into generators, heaters, and air compressors. Previously customers would be required to refuel their equipment numerous times throughout a week increasing labour costs and downtime. The fuel cells provide a secure and easy way to keep the jobsite running smoothly.
